[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Since 2019 Lockings Solicitors have donated an allocated number of Will appointments to support Dove House Hospice’s Free Wills Fortnight in October. In return for a donation to Dove House Hospice, clients received a professionally drafted Will. Since our participation in the scheme, we have raised £1,660 in 2019 and are proud to say that this year we managed to raise £1710! Some clients even left an additional gift in their Wills to Dove House Hospice. 100% of the donations received reach Dove House Hospice and really help to improve the lives of people living with a terminal illness and those near the end of their lives.
Dove House has been providing services and support to people in Hull and East Yorkshire since the early 1980s. The hospice began in a building donated by the Sisters of Mercy at Endsleigh and was run with the help of volunteers. It was officially opened by HRH Diana, Princess of Wales in October 1991.
As the hospice has grown, generous donations from individuals and businesses in the community have supported staff to provide the highest quality care. Donations have enabled expansion into new premises and the provision of essential equipment and purpose-built facilities.
Dove House staff look after the whole person by meeting not only their medical needs but their emotional, psychological and sometimes spiritual needs too. They help to make sure people’s last days are spent with dignity, surrounded by those they love in a setting that feels like home.
Highly-trained, compassionate staff help people to live their lives as well and independently as they possibly can, providing care that embraces the whole family.
Dove House is a friendly place where every member of staff including volunteers and nurses are warm and welcoming. When a family member or a friend has a terminal illness people often have questions about how to support them.
At the moment, many people are concerned about how to keep loved ones safe during the coronavirus pandemic. Dove House is there to answer all questions with compassion and sensitivity, offering practical information and help whenever it is needed.
Care for families and loved ones continues after bereavement. Dove House Family Support Team understand the thoughts and emotions people have during this time. They are there to talk to, and to offer practical advice and links to other supportive organisations.
